Yu is a native Mandarin speaker who was born and raised in Taiwan. As a parent raising bilingual children in the United States, she believes a child’s earliest experience with Mandarin should feel warm, joyful, and deeply personal. Watching her own children grow into confident bilingual learners has strengthened her belief in immersive, play-based language learning.
Over the past five years, Yu has worked with preschoolers ages 2–5 in inclusive, community-based classroom settings. She also has experience leading hands-on STEM activities for young learners locally, which has deepened her love for creative, exploratory learning.
Yu holds degrees in Architecture and Urban Planning and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Information Technology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Yu loves visiting museums and traveling with her family. A fun fact: her first trip to the United States was a working holiday at Yellowstone National Park, where meeting people from around the world sparked her deep appreciation for global cultures, inclusion, and diversity.
