Jia Jia
Lead Teacher
ia was born and educated in China before pursuing her passion for early childhood education in the US. She earned her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Boston University and her M.S.Ed. in TESOL from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with distinction and as a Dean’s Scholar.
With nearly five years of teaching experience across Beijing, Boston, and Philadelphia, Jia has worked with children ages 3–10 in preschool, bilingual immersion, and subject-based learning environments. She also participated in research at the Early Childhood Learning Lab, deepening her understanding of children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.
As a bilingual early childhood educator, Jia joined TESSA in 2025. She believes children learn best through meaningful relationships, play, exploration, and authentic experiences. She strives to create a warm, inclusive, and student-centered classroom where children feel safe to ask questions, express themselves, take risks, and develop independence. In the Mandarin immersion classroom, she integrates language naturally through songs, stories, play, and inquiry, helping children experience Mandarin as a joyful way to communicate and connect with others.
Jia is passionate about nurturing the whole child and creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning. She strives to make every child feel valued, confident, curious, and excited to come to school each day.
