Lesley is an elementary school teacher with 26 years of experience. She is joining Tessa after a long career in public education. Lesley holds a MSEd in early childhood and elementary education from Bank Street College in New York City. She is a passionate educator who believes that children learn best when they are actively engaged.
Lesley has spent her career teaching children in Kindergarten through 5th grade using the workshop approach. To do this, she designs and implements units of study that encompass the work of real readers and writers. During reading units, students choose their own “just right” books and participate in reading partnerships and books clubs. In writing, students live like writers by writing in their notebooks, publishing their work, and contributing to school-wide publications. Throughout the writing process, students learn how to read like writers, employ author’s craft, and thoughtfully revise and edit their own work.
On the weekends, Lesley enjoys an active lifestyle by hiking, photographing, traveling and crocheting. She is excited to start her second career at Tessa International School.
